He also warned that Theresa May’s plans to leave the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice would mean Britain will leave the Open Skies agreement which governs flights between the UK and Europe.

Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron said:

“This is the reality of Theresa May’s extreme version of Brexit and insistence we could just crash out of the EU without a deal.

“Jobs could be lost, flights disrupted and British travellers’ lives thrown into chaos, but Theresa May doesn’t care.

“We will fight for a better deal on Europe and to give people a chance to reject a disastrous Brexit.

“The British people should be able to decide whether Theresa May’s Brexit deal is right for them, with the choice to remain in the EU if they don’t like what’s on offer.”

The Scottish Conservatives have hit out at the SNP’s attempt to use the NHS as part of its election campaign.

The SNP posted a graphic last night adapting the NHS logo to construct the phrase “NHSNP”.

It appears to be in breach of the NHS’s own rules which state that its logo must “never be altered or modified in any way.”

Scottish Conservative health spokesman Donald Cameron said:

“It would appear that the SNP has breached the NHS’s own strict rules on the use of its logo which states clearly that it should ‘never be altered or modified in any way’.

“The SNP should explain whether or not it obtained permission from NHS Scotland before publishing this image.

“More importantly, the SNP should accept that it is quite simply wrong to appropriate the NHS for its own political ends.”

NHS identity guidelines can be found here. On page 5 it states: “Our identity needs to be consistently and correctly applied, and must never be altered or modified in any way.”

Labour launches Race and Faith manifesto

Jeremy Corbyn, Leader of the Labour Party, will say today that ‘Labour is the
party of equality.’ The Labour Party is launching its Race and Faith manifesto
at an event in Watford, outlining its commitment to racial equality and
detailing how the Party’s manifesto benefits BAME communities.

Jeremy Corbyn, Leader of the Labour Party, said:

“Labour is the Party of equality. We were built on the values of
social justice, internationalism and human rights. Our values are rooted in the
fundamental truth that whatever your background, wherever you are from, you
should have the means and opportunity to fulfil your potential.

“People continue to be treated unfairly due to their ethnicity or
faith. The recent rise in hate crimes, including Anti-Semitic
and Islamophobic attacks, underscores how far we still have to go. Labour
will repair the damage done by the Conservative Government, which has sown
the seeds of division in our communities.

“Only Labour can be trusted to unlock the talent of Black, Asian
and Minority Ethnic people, who have been held back by the Conservatives. We
will guarantee equality is at the heart of our programme for government.

“Labour will implement a comprehensive strategy for racial
equality, one that effectively challenges the disadvantage many Black, Asian
and Minority Ethnic communities suffer. We will work every day for a fairer
society, where every person is enabled to get on in life, regardless of race,
faith or ethnicity, to build a Britain that works for the many, not the few.”
