Lantern displays to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will present lantern displays and lighting installations to celebrate the coming Mid-Autumn Festival. Admission is free.

Running from September 13 to 27, a lighting installation entitled "Wishing Pavilion", inspired by the unique custom of burning tower lanterns in South China, will illuminate Victoria Park's soccer pitch No. 1. Some 5 000 bricks, made by upcycling high-density polyethylene, will form the outer wall of the pavilion. By incorporating a LED light, each plastic brick becomes a small lantern, creating a semi-transparent effect.

Another highlight at Victoria Park is an exhibition on traditional paper crafting from September 11 to 15. Organised by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office of the LCSD, a golden dragon lantern crafted by a local master will portray the image of a flying and dancing dragon, reflecting the exquisite workmanship of traditional paper crafting.
