     The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Yuen Long to suspend business for 14 days as the operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation (FBR) by extending its business area illegally.
 
     The restaurant, Bum Mei Sin Kitchen, located at Shop 10, 10A, 11, on the ground floor and the outside seating accommodation at shop front, Ho King Building, 10-28 Hop Yick Road, Yuen Long, was ordered to suspend business from today (January 7) to January 20.
 
     “In June 2019, two convictions for the above-mentioned breach were recorded against the restaurant. A total fine of $17,000 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department’s demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day licence suspension,” a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.
 
     The licensee of the restaurant had a record of two convictions for the same offence in January and February 2019. A total fine of $16,500 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered. The breaches led to a licence suspension for seven days in May in the same year.
 
     The spokesman reminded the licensees of food premises to comply with the FBR or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
 
     Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign, at a conspicuous place near the main entrance, indicating that the premises have been licensed. A list of licensed food premises is available on the FEHD’s website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/index.html). read more

     In light of public health considerations, the ceremony to mark the opening of the Legal Year 2021 will take place at the Court of Final Appeal next Monday (January 11), instead of Hong Kong City Hall.
 
     The Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, the Secretary for Justice, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association and the President of the Law Society of Hong Kong will deliver addresses as in previous years.
 
     Special arrangements will be made having regard to the limited capacity of the venue and the need for social distancing. There will be no inspection of the ceremonial guard and no reception. Attendance at the ceremony will also be limited.
 
     The ceremony will be broadcast live to the public on the Judiciary’s website (www.judiciary.hk) at 4pm on January 11. read more
