Hospital Authority’s response to media enquiries

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     In response to media enquiries, the spokesperson for the Hospital Authority (HA) made the following reply today (October 23):

     The HA has earlier sent letters to some staff members on their absence from work in early February to confirm their days and reasons for the absence. The replies are now being processed and the HA is yet to conclude on the number of replies received, the reasons given and the follow-up procedures that might be considered.

     The HA will handle the matter in accordance with legal advice and relevant human resources regulations, in a fair, reasonable, rational and lawful manner. The HA will continue to communicate with staff through different platforms.

     The HA is grateful to staff for their dedication in caring for patients in the epidemic. The HA looks forward to continuing to join hands with staff to overcome upcoming challenges in public healthcare services.
