The award presentation ceremony for the MiMEP Infinity Awards 2026, co-organised by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) and the Architectural Services Department, with the Development Bureau (DEVB) and the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Guangdong Province (DHURDGP) serving as advisors, was held today (November 6). Under the theme "Shaping Infinity Tomorrow: MiMEP Innovation and High Productivity Construction", the competition aims to promote the application of innovative technologies in electrical and mechanical engineering to enhance construction efficiency, as well as to recognise the contributions of industry stakeholders in advancing high productivity construction.

Speaking at the award presentation ceremony, the Under Secretary for Development, Mr David Lam, said that the competition serves as a platform for the industries in Hong Kong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) to learn from and inspire one another, jointly exploring the development direction of Multi-trade integrated Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MiMEP). He noted that the DEVB issued a works technical circular this year requiring the adoption of MiMEP in suitable public works projects, and will collaborate with relevant Mainland authorities to publish a cross-boundary trading guidebook on MiMEP next year to facilitate cross-boundary development. The Government will continue to promote the wider application of MiMEP through various fronts including policy guidance, technology promotion and talent training.

Second-level Inspector of the DHURDGP Ms Guo Jianhua said she was pleased to witness, together with the industry, the new quality productive forces and innovations that MiMEP has brought to the GBA. She expressed hope that Guangdong and Hong Kong will further deepen technological innovation and industrial collaboration in the construction industry, joining hands to promote the co-ordinated development of the MiMEP industry chain in the GBA.

The competition features four major award categories (New Construction Project; Under Construction Project; Repair, Maintenance, Alteration and Addition; and Factory/Manufacturer), alongside three special award categories, receiving over 80 nominations from cities across the GBA. The judging panel selected 52 winning teams. Among them, four teams received the Infinity Award, the highest accolade, for projects encompassing major medical facilities, core commercial landmarks, government building energy retrofitting, and advanced manufacturing in the GBA.
