Paco Air-conditioning & Engineering (HK) Limited was fined $35,000 at West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts today (June 11) for violation of the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on March 11, 2019, at a logistics centre in Tsuen Wan. While a worker was standing on a folding ladder to repair an air-conditioning plant, a component of the plant suddenly exploded, causing the worker to fall about 3 metres from the ladder to the ground. The worker sustained serious head injury and passed away on the following day.
