Government to recruit more than 430 Support Service Assistants

With a view to relieving the worsening unemployment situation due to the epidemic, the Government has earmarked $6 billion under the Anti-epidemic Fund to create around 30 000 time-limited jobs in both the public and private sectors in the coming two years for people with different skill sets and academic qualifications. Among them, different government bureaux and departments will provide a total of over 430 time-limited positions of Support Service Assistant (SSA) in accordance with their operational needs. The positions are now open for application.

A spokesman for the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) said today (August 21) that the CSB is now co-ordinating with various bureaux and departments concerning recruitment for the positions, so as to enhance efficiency and to save applicants from having to submit multiple applications to different bureaux and departments.

Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for not more than 12 months. They will be assigned to perform general clerical duties in different government bureaux or departments.

Applicants for the positions of SSA need to have obtained Level 2 or above in five subjects (including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics) in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination, or equivalent. They should also pass the Chinese and English word processing speed test organised by the Government before they are invited to the selection interviews. The recruitment is open to all permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, including candidates of this year’s Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary School Examination, who meet the relevant entry requirements.

Details of the entry requirements and the application methods for the positions have been uploaded to the CSB website (www.csb.gov.hk/english/recruit/7.html). Applicants can submit applications on-line through the website. The closing date for application is September 3 (Thursday). read more
