SCST congratulates Hong Kong, China team on winning one more medal in Asian Games

     The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Kevin Yeung, today (October 3) congratulated the Hong Kong, China Delegation on winning one more medal at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou (Asian Games).

     Mr Yeung said, “Hong Kong athletes have been going to full lengths and achieving outstanding results at the Asian Games. We are very touched and impressed.”

     The Hong Kong, China Delegation has so far won 45 medals, namely six golds, 15 silvers and 24 bronzes, at this Asian Games. The medal won today is as follows:

Senior staff movements in Hong Kong Monetary Authority

The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority:
 
     The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today (October 3) that the Executive Director (Monetary Management), Ms Clara Chan, will leave the HKMA on resignation with effect from October 9, 2023. She will join the Hong Kong Investment Corporation Limited (HKIC) as Chief Executive Officer on the same day. 
 
     The Chief Executive of the HKMA, Mr Eddie Yue, said, “Since joining the HKMA in 2010, Clara has spearheaded the private markets team to achieve remarkable results for the Exchange Fund Investment Office. She has also made dedicated efforts to maintain the financial and monetary stability of Hong Kong and the soundness of our Stored Value Facilities and Retail Payment Systems. I would like to thank Clara for her dedication and contributions, and wish her every success in leading the HKIC to advance its mission for the betterment of Hong Kong.”
 
     The HKMA also announced the consequential senior staff movements following Ms Chan’s departure. The Executive Director (Banking Policy), Mr Daryl Ho, will succeed Ms Chan to oversee the operation of the Monetary Management Department. The Executive Director (Corporate Services), Mr Donald Chen, will take over from Mr Ho as the Executive Director (Banking Policy). Effective dates of the two appointments will be confirmed in due course. The HKMA will arrange open recruitment for the post of the Executive Director (Corporate Services), and a separate announcement will be made after completion of the recruitment process. read more

“iAM Smart” enhancement features real-time daily-life information (with photo)

     The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) announced today (October 3) that members of the public will be able to browse various kinds of practical daily information, including local real-time weather, traffic conditions, government information, locations of public facilities, Accident and Emergency Department waiting time, etc, by opening the “iAM Smart” mobile app. Those who have not yet registered for “iAM Smart” can also access such information upon downloading the mobile app. The new 3.1.0 version of “iAM Smart” will be launched next Monday (October 9).      A spokesman of the OGCIO said, “Since its launch in late 2020, ‘iAM Smart’, a one-stop personalised digital service platform, has more than 2.3 million registrations. In addition to adding practical information, the OGCIO will keep upgrading the ‘iAM Smart’ by enhancing user experience, and simplifying the registration procedures and the overall service usage workflow, with the objective to provide one-stop digital services with the ‘iAM Smart’ platform by 2025 and realise the goal of ‘single portal for online government services’.”
 
     Moreover, the number of online services supported by “iAM Smart” continues to grow. At present, “iAM Smart” users can access 300 government, public and private online services, including Leisure Link, eHealth, eTAX, Contactless e-Channel, HKeToll, renewal of vehicle licences, online application for International Driving Permit, and online services of power and gas companies.      The “iAM Smart” mobile app supports iOS and Android mobile phones enabled with biometric authentication.
