FS to attend G20 Leaders’ Summit in Osaka, Japan

     The Financial Secretary, Mr Paul Chan, will depart for Osaka, Japan, at around midnight on June 27 (Thursday) to attend the Group of Twenty (G20) Leaders’ Summit, which will be held on June 28 and 29, as part of the delegation of the People’s Republic of China.

     The Summit provides a platform for leaders of the world’s major economies to discuss economic, financial, political and other areas for co-operation.

     Mr Chan will return to Hong Kong in the evening on June 29. In his absence, the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Mr James Lau, will act as the Financial Secretary on June 27 and 28, while the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Edward Yau, will act as the Financial Secretary on June 29. read more

Hongkong Post extends EPS EasyCash for Senior Citizens service launched in collaboration with EPS Company to all post offices

     Hongkong Post announced today (June 24) the extension of the EPS EasyCash for Senior Citizens service together with EPS Company to all post offices and mobile post offices on July 2. This service offers an alternative and convenient means of cash withdrawal for senior citizens by enabling them to withdraw small amounts of cash in their local community.
      
     Hongkong Post launched the EPS EasyCash for Senior Citizens service at seven designated post offices on April 27, 2018, based on the advice of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Hongkong Post’s own operational considerations. This service extension will further complement the existing cash withdrawal network for senior citizens.
      
     Holders of Senior Citizen Cards can withdraw cash in multiples of $100 using their bank cards issued by EPS member banks with an ATM function at any post office without making purchases or paying transaction fees, subject to a cap of $500 for each transaction and a maximum of two transactions per bank card per day. The elderly are welcome to use the EPS EasyCash for Senior Citizens service at post offices during business hours. read more

Public forum on proposed guidelines on election-related activities in respect of the District Council Election

The following is issued on behalf of the Electoral Affairs Commission:
 
     The Electoral Affairs Commission will hold a public forum tomorrow (June 25) on the proposed guidelines on election-related activities in respect of the District Council Election.
 
     “Members of the public are welcome to express their views at the public forum,” a Commission spokesman said today (June 24).
 
     The forum will be held from 7pm to 9pm at the Quarry Bay Community Hall, 1 Greig Road, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong.
 
     The proposed guidelines were released on June 11 for public consultation. The public consultation period will last for 30 days until July 10.
 
     Written representations can be submitted to the Commission’s Secretariat by post at 10/F, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong, by fax (2511 1682) or email (eacenq@eac.hk) by July 10. Late representations will not be considered.
 
     The proposed guidelines can be downloaded from the Commission’s website (www.eac.hk). They are also available for public inspection at the Registration and Electoral Office and the Home Affairs Enquiry Centres of District Offices.
