Public reminded to observe regulations on prohibition of group gatherings and not to litter during festive season

Please broadcast the following at suitable intervals:

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department reminds members of the public to maintain an appropriate social distance with other people as far as possible at the department’s venues tonight (December 24). In particular, they should strictly observe regulations on the prohibition of group gatherings, and should wear masks at all times in any public place. Offenders are liable to prosecution.

     Members of the public should also keep places clean and put rubbish in rubbish bins. Anyone not disposing of rubbish properly is liable to a fixed penalty of $1,500.

     Please remember that the Hong Kong Cultural Centre piazza area, Salisbury Garden and the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade will implement crowd management measures. Venues will step up patrols and appeals to members of the public to follow the regulations on the prohibition of group gatherings of more than the number of people as stipulated by the law and the mask-wearing requirement in public places and to keep places clean. Enforcement actions will be taken against offenders. People who intend to go there should follow the instructions of the duty personnel and mind their safety. read more

FEHD orders Kwun Tong food factory to suspend business for 14 days

     The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a food factory in Kwun Tong to suspend business for 14 days as the operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation (FBR) by extending the business area illegally and operating an unlicensed restaurant.
 
     The premises, located at Shop 43A on the ground floor of Legend Tower at 7 Shing Yip Street, Kwun Tong, was ordered to suspend business from today (December 24) to January 6, 2021.
 
     “In November last year and September this year, two convictions for the above-mentioned breaches were recorded against the shop. A total fine of $9,000 was levied by the court and 15 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department’s demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day licence suspension,” a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.
 
     The licensee of the shop had a record of two convictions for operating an unlicensed restaurant in August and September last year. A total fine of $6,000 was levied and 15 demerit points were also registered. The breaches led to a licence suspension for seven days between January and February this year.
 
     The spokesman reminded the licensees of food premises to comply with the FBR or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
 
     Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign, at a conspicuous place near the main entrance, indicating that the premises have been licensed. A list of licensed food premises is available on the FEHD’s website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/index.html).

Correctional officer of Lo Wu Correctional Institution preliminarily tests positive for COVID-19

     Lo Wu Correctional Institution today (December 24) learned that a correctional officer has preliminarily tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).    

     The staff member last performed her duties on December 19. She was notified by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) on the same day that one of her family members who lives with her tested positive for COVID-19. She was therefore regarded as a close contact of the case and was arranged to undergo quarantine at Penny’s Bay Quarantine Centre the next day (December 20). She was notified of having preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19 today. The staff member has no recent travel history. She has been wearing surgical masks when performing duties and has properly maintained social distancing with people she has had contact with. Her body temperature was normal when undergoing temperature screening at work and she did not have any symptoms.    

     Having noticed that the staff member would be arranged to undergo quarantine on December 19, the Correctional Services Department (CSD) liaised with the CHP and followed the advice given, and instantly arranged for all correctional officers and persons in custody of the institution to take COVID-19 tests and all specimens tested negative. Thorough cleaning and disinfection has also been arranged immediately by the institution for the locations concerned.

     The CSD is highly concerned about the COVID-19 epidemic and has remained highly vigilant. Relevant hygienic measures for prevention of infectious diseases have been strictly implemented in accordance with the established mechanism. In addition, a series of disease prevention and disinfection measures have been put in place, including requiring staff members to check body temperatures and wear masks before and when performing duties. All working locations in the institution also undergo cleaning and disinfection regularly. The persons in custody and staff members are also reminded by the management to seek medical consultation promptly if they have any symptoms. read more

LCSD launches online programme “The Chelem Legend – Fool Moon” by the Train Theater from Israel

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) has launched the free online programme “The Chelem Legend – Fool Moon” by the Train Theater from Israel.
 
     Leizer and Leimech live in Chelem, a small city in Poland. One day, they find the moon was stolen and set out on an adventurous journey to find a new moon for the city. Some very funny stories are waiting for them.
 
     Galia Levy-Grad, an artist who specialises in paper art, breathes life into the Chelem world by way of humour and innocence. A huge book turns into stage theatre through a “pop-up” technique combined with puppets and shadows. 
 
     The Train Theater is a renowned Israeli visual and puppet theatre for children. Based in Jerusalem since 1981, the troupe contains over 50 artists spanning three generations including puppeteers, designers, directors, musicians and others. The theatre offers a rich variety of productions through its diversity of artists including original performances, educational programmes, master classes and international exposure, such as art fairs for children, special projects for those in need and the annual Jerusalem Puppet Festival.
