The Correctional Services Department (CSD) is fully supporting National Security Education Day today (April 15), and held an open day at its staff training institute to enhance the public’s understanding of the work of the department, including its work in safeguarding national security.
The open day programme today included Chinese-style foot drill demonstrations, demonstrations by the Dog Unit and the Regional Response Team on scenario training, e-theatre quiz games and game booths. Exhibitions on national security education and photo corners were also set up. The open day activities were held with a view to raising the public awareness of national security and enhancing the participants’ understanding of the role and daily work of the CSD in maintaining national security in various aspects.
The CSD has always acted as the last element in the criminal justice system, holds the position of “Anti-violence – uphold the rule of law”, and strives to maintain a safe custodial environment. The department also strictly enforces the law so as to maintain the order and stability of its correctional facilities. read more

​Hong Kong Customs has been playing an important role in safeguarding national security and is giving its full support to the National Security Education Day organised by the Committee for Safeguarding National Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The department today (April 15) held the Hong Kong Customs College (HKCC) Open Day to promote national security education.
As one of the major events of National Security Education Day, the Open Day was divided into two sessions in the morning and the afternoon, with a Chinese-style flag raising ceremony and foot drill performance by members of the Customs and Excise Department Guards of Honour in each session to commence the event. Other programmes included national security exhibitions to introduce Hong Kong Customs’ work and effectiveness in safeguarding national security, demonstrations by Customs detector dogs, and a virtual reality experience of contraband detection.
In addition, the visitors also joined guided tours to the Professional Development Training Block and the outdoor firing range, and viewed a display of professional equipment including firearms and weapons to learn more about the facilities and training contents of the HKCC. During the visits, members of the public also obtained information about Customs’ recruitment exercise and experienced the physical fitness test for recruitment.
Following the enactment of the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (the National Security Law) last June, the past national security loopholes in Hong Kong have been plugged and the robustness of “one country, two systems” could also be ensured. Hong Kong Customs also renders full support in a bid to facilitate the implementation of the National Security Law.
Hong Kong Customs hopes that the Open Day could let members of the public see the strong power of the department in preventing and fending off national security risks and understand from various perspectives Customs’ work in safeguarding national security. read more
