HA releases Medication Safety Bulletin

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hospital Authority (HA) today (November 30) published the biannual issue of Medication Safety Bulletin (MSB). The Bulletin highlighted an enhancement on the Clinical Management System, which enables better documentation of a patient’s drug allergy history, simultaneously enhancing drug safety.

The latest issue also alerted colleagues on the standardisations of drug names of “Look-alike Sound-alike” medications. The bulletin deliberated previous medication incidents, with reminders for healthcare staff on the ways to reduce the risk of recurrence. Kowloon East Cluster also shared what it learned from its near-miss incidents.

The publication has already been posted on the web for sharing with healthcare professionals. Members of the public are also welcome to browse it at the following link: www.ha.org.hk/msb.

The MSB is published every six months, on the last Fridays of May and November. The next issue will be published on May 31, 2019. read more
