In light of the violent incident which happened in Wong Tai Sin earlier, the Social Welfare Department (SWD) held an emotional support session this evening (June 5) at Fung Tak Estate Community Centre to provide counselling and assistance to those who are feeling distressed by the incident.

A total of 30 people attended the session. Clinical psychologists of the SWD explained to participants on ways of coping with emotional disturbances with a view to helping them overcome the possible psychological trauma triggered by this incident.

The session included a group sharing where clinical psychologists guided participants to share their views and feelings on the incident. Counselling was also provided by clinical psychologists for participants in need. Social workers will follow up with participants who require special attention.

The SWD appeals to members of the public who feel emotionally disturbed to seek professional assistance as soon as possible. The 24-hour hotline of the SWD at 2343 2255 provides telephone counselling, support and referral services. Members of the public in need may call the hotline for assistance.
