Resumption of normal water supply to the supply zone of Wu Kau Tang Fresh Water Tank

     A spokesman for the Water Supplies Department (WSD) said today (October 6) that following the completion of the cleansing and flushing of the water supply system related to Wu Kau Tang Fresh Water Tank, test results of water samples collected from the system confirmed no presence of Escherichia coli. The water quality is in compliance with the Hong Kong Drinking Water Standards and safe for consumption. Normal water supply to the previously affected area has been resumed.

     The WSD considers that its preventive measures advised in the press release of September 27 for the incident can be lifted and the customers concerned in the aforesaid area including Kau Tam Tso, Miu Tin, Lai Tau Shek, Sam A, Lai Chi Wo, So Lo Pun, Ap Chau, Ngau Shi Wu, Sai Lau Kong, Kat O, Wu Kau Tang and villages in its proximity (i.e. Tin Sam, Lo Wai, San Uk Tsuen, San Uk Ha, Leng Pui, Ho Pui, Sam Ka Tsuen, etc.), can resume their usual way of using and handling of tap water. Customers are advised to run the tap for at least two minutes before the first time of using the water for drinking, food or beverage preparation, making ice, dish washing, mouth rinsing or tooth brushing. Members of the public may call the Customer Services Hotline of the WSD at 2824 5000 for enquiries.
