Queen Mary Hospital announces passing away of COVID-19 patient

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson for Queen Mary Hospital (QMH) announced today (December 4) that a 38-year-old male patient confirmed with COVID-19 infection (case number: 6272) passed away last night (December 3).
 
     The patient with chronic diseases was admitted to the isolation ward of QMH on November 27 directly from the quarantine centre due to shortness of breath and coughing. He was in serious condition upon admission. He subsequently tested positive for COVID-19 and influenza A virus. His condition continued to deteriorate since November 28. The patient eventually succumbed at 11.42pm last night.
 
     The Hospital was saddened about the passing away of the patient and would offer necessary assistance to his family.
 
     Including the above case, 110 COVID-19 confirmed patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.
