Queen Elizabeth Hospital announces COVID-19 patient passed away

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
 
     The spokesperson for Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) today (December 3) announced that a patient confirmed with COVID-19 passed away today.
      
     The 82-year-old female patient (case number: 6447) with chronic illness was admitted to QEH Intensive Care Unit on December 1 due to fever, pneumonia and septic shock. She was later tested positive for COVID-19. She required mechanical ventilation for assisting breathing all along. Her condition continued to deteriorate and she eventually succumbed at 8.08pm tonight.
      
     The hospital was saddened about the passing away of the patient and would offer the necessary assistance to her family.
      
     Including the above case, 109 COVID-19 confirmed patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.
