QEH announces passing away of COVID-19 patient

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson for Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) today (December 2) announced that a patient confirmed with COVID-19 passed away today.

     The 73-year-old female patient (case number: 5110) with chronic illness was admitted to QEH Intensive Care Unit on October 2 due to fever, vomiting and diarrhea. She later tested positive for COVID-19. After treatment, the patient tested negative for COVID-19 and was released from the isolation order by the Department of Health on October 19. The patient required mechanical ventilation due to respiratory failure and remained in the Intensive Care Unit for treatment. Her condition continued to deteriorate and she eventually succumbed at 12.53pm today.

     The hospital was saddened about the passing away of the patient and would offer the necessary assistance to her family.

     Including the above case, 108 COVID-19 confirmed patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.
