The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (September 22) that refurbishment works for Portland Street Rest Garden in Yau Tsim Mong District have been completed. The facilities will reopen at noon tomorrow (September 23) for public use.

The LCSD collaborated with Architectural Services Department, the Policy Innovation and Co-ordination Office and the young designers of Design Trust to carry out a facility renovation project for Portland Street Rest Garden. The new design of the garden improves its environment and encourages user interaction to strengthen the community connection. Part of the renovated Portland Street Rest Garden retains its original layout structure while some facilities have been renewed to improve the lighting and seating area. Another part holds a contemporary flavour with innovative designs and artistic elements. A mono colour tone has been adopted in the decoration of the ground, facilities and plants to refresh the appearance of the garden.

The LCSD is carrying out refurbishment works at Sitting-out Area under Flyover in Hill Road of Central and Western District and will conduct renovation of Hamilton Street Rest Garden in Yau Tsim Mong District progressively, aiming to bring innovative designs and arts elements to small outdoor leisure venues with high visitor flows, and to improve these older public spaces.
