Police Recruitment Experience and Assessment Day (with photos)

     The Hong Kong Police Force today (November 20) organised the Police Recruitment Experience and Assessment Day (READ) at the Hong Kong Police College with the theme of "Your Police Story". Participants were given opportunity to participate in various experimental activities to gain a better knowledge of the recruitment selection process, foundation training programmes at the Police College, and how different Police units work together to protect the lives and properties of the public.

     The event consisted of three thematic sessions: (1) Selection workshops for Probationary Inspector / Police Constable; (2) Interactive Police Unit Display / Recruitment Talk / Sharing of Training Experience; and (3) Physical Fitness Test Workshops. Recruitment stations were set up to facilitate participants to submit applications on the spot. In addition, "Recruitment Spokespersons" also shared information about the recruitment process with visitors.
           
     Selection workshops for Probationary Inspector / Police Constable were set up to provide information and tips on the recruitment process. Participants were also given opportunities to experience the interview process in the workshops. Besides, thematic talks on recruitment were also held to allow participants to gain a better understanding on how to be better equipped for the selection process. In addition, several trainees and course instructors shared their training experience with visitors.
           
     In addition, "Interactive Theatre" was firstly introduced in the programme, in which visitors can experience the role of various Police units in protecting the lives and properties of the public through handling a case in a simulated traffic accident. In the meantime, various Police units such as Patrol Sub-Unit, Traffic Unit, Crime Unit, Police Dog Unit, Marine Police, Airport Security Unit and Counter Terrorism Response Unit, introduced their work at the Interactive Police Unit Display.
           
     In view of the overwhelming responses to the Physical Fitness Test Workshops in previous times, extra sessions were arranged this time, with three sessions on both today and yesterday (November 19). Participants attending the Workshops experienced the four fitness test items, including 800m run, 4x10m shuttle-run, vertical jump, and handgrip strength test. The successful results for Physical Fitness Test Workshops will be valid for three months.
           
     A total of 1068 participants (resulting in 1714 attendance) joined the Police Recruitment Experience and Assessment Day, during which 399 on-spot applications were received, comprising of 90 Probationary Inspector, 237 Recruit Police Constable, and 72 Police Constable (Auxiliary) posts. Applicants included students of local and overseas tertiary institutes and working people.
           
     The Force accepts applications year-round. Persons who are interested in applying for Probationary Inspector, Recruit Police Constable or Police Constable (Auxiliary) can complete the application form at the Police website or mail the completed form to the Police Recruitment Division.
