Police appeal for information on fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei

     Police today (July 16) appealed to the public for information on a fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei on July 12 in which a 94-year-old man died.

     At about 5.33am on that day, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 33-year-old man was travelling along Canton Road northbound. When approaching Public Square Street, it reportedly knocked down the 94-year-old man who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining head and hand injuries, the male pedestrian was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 8.49am on July 16.

     The LGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm after the accident. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back to Police in early August.

     Active investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
