LAD’s Information and Application Services Unit at Kowloon Branch Office temporarily closed

     The Legal Aid Department (LAD) announced today (February 22) that a Law Clerk has preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19. The LAD will temporarily close the Information and Application Services Unit of the Kowloon Branch Office (KBO) on the ground floor of Mongkok Government Offices at 30 Luen Wan Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon, until further notice. The LAD will arrange thorough cleaning and disinfection at the relevant premises. In the meantime, all staff of the office concerned will work from home. 
 
     For the filing of any civil legal aid applications, members of the public can attend the Information and Application Services Unit on the 25th floor of Queensway Government Offices.

     Meanwhile, the Application and Processing Unit and the Shroff Office of the KBO on the third floor of Mongkok Government Offices will resume service at 9.30am tomorrow (February 23).

     The staff member, who works at the KBO and is responsible for interviewing members of the public on their legal aid applications, had no recent travel history and last performed duties on February 18. The staff member had a normal body temperature on the last day of work and had been wearing a mask while performing duties. 

     The LAD is highly concerned about the COVID-19 epidemic. Staff are reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and to stay vigilant. They should seek medical advice immediately if feeling unwell.
