HKSAR Government fully supports and facilitates countermeasures and sanctions by Central Authorities in response to Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan

     The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today (August 5) announced eight countermeasures in response to the visit to Taiwan by the US Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, and adopted sanctions on Pelosi. A spokesman for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government reiterated that the SAR Government firmly opposes any external forces interfering in the internal affairs of China, and will fully support and facilitate all necessary measures by the Central Government to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
      
     The spokesman added that the SAR Government will closely monitor developments and keep in contact with the relevant authorities of the Central Government.
