HA announces two COVID-19 patients passed away at public hospitals

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The Hospital Authority spokesman today (December 14) announced the passing away of two patients confirmed with COVID-19 infection today.
      
     A 69-year-old male patient with chronic disease (case number: 6839) was transferred from quarantine centre to Tuen Mun Hospital isolation ward for treatment on December 4 due to fever. His condition continued to deteriorate and he eventually succumbed at 6.10pm this evening.
      
     In addition, a 73-year-old male patient (case number: 7560) with chronic diseases was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital on December 12 due to fever and oxygen desaturation. He was later tested positive for COVID-19. He required mechanical ventilation for assisting breathing all along. His condition continued to deteriorate and he eventually succumbed at 6.57pm this evening.
      
     The hospitals concerned were saddened about the passing away of the patients and would offer necessary assistance to their family members.
      
     Including the above two patients, 117 COVID-19 patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.
