The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
The Hospital Authority spokesperson today (August 12) announced the passing away of two patients confirmed with COVID-19 infection today.
A 78-year-old male patient (case number: 4088), admitted to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital due to underlying diseases on July 29 and subsequently confirmed with COVID-19 infection, succumbed at 3.47am this morning.
A 93-year-old female patient (case number: 3196), admitted to Tuen Mun Hospital on July 29 due to cough, succumbed at 10.05am this morning.
Both patients had chronic diseases and their conditions continued to deteriorate after admission. The hospitals concerned were saddened by the passing away of the patients and would offer necessary assistance to their family members.
Including the above two patients, 63 COVID-19 patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.
