Fatal traffic accident in Sha Tin

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sha Tin this afternoon (August 29) in which a 56-year-old man died.

     At about 1.33pm, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV), a light goods vehicle (LGV) and a bus driven respectively by a 46-year-old man, a 64-year-old man and a 56-year-old man were travelling in sequence along Shing Mun Tunnel Road towards Sha Tin. When approaching Mei Lam Estate, the three vehicles reportedly collided.

     Sustaining multiple injuries, the bus driver was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 3.03pm. Six female and three male bus passengers, aged between 31 and 75, were injured and sent to Yan Chai Hospital in conscious state. The LGV driver was also injured and sent to Princess Margaret Hospital in conscious state.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is underway.
