​Correctional officers at Lo Wu Correctional Institution stopped a person in custody attacking a correctional officer today (September 6).
At 4.02pm, the 57-year-old female person in custody suddenly turned emotional and attacked a correctional officer with her hand inside the cell. The officer immediately shouted her to stop and called for reinforcement.
During the incident, the officer sustained injury to her face. After treatment by the institution Medical Officer, she did not need to be sent to outside hospital. The assailant did not sustain any injury.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The assailant was sentenced to imprisonment for the offence of theft.
