RAIB has today released its interim report following the derailment of a passenger train at Carmont, Aberdeenshire, 12 August 2020.

We will publish our findings, including any recommendations to improve safety, at the conclusion of our investigation.

Our investigation is independent of any investigation by the railway industry, the joint investigation instructed by the Lord Advocate to be carried out by Police Scotland, the British Transport Police or by the industry’s regulator, the Office of Rail and Road.
