If we look around us at our fellow Party members, elected representatives and spokespersons, we can see there is a problem: we are not as diverse in our race and ethnic minority profile as the communities we want to represent.

Despite our clear liberal values, rejecting all forms of prejudice and inequality, the Party has failed to engage sufficiently with BAME communities.

Our commitment to liberal values is not in doubt, but what we’re doing isn’t working.

At PMQs today, I asked the Prime Minister to confirm that the NHS would not be up for sale in any US trade deal negotiations.

Theresa May failed to give such a guarantee.

In the last 100 years there have obviously been massive changes for the role of women in society. We are more equal, we are treated more fairly, and we face fewer obstacles in our lives. But the job is not yet done. As women we are not yet truly equal, we are not yet treated fairly, and we still face obstacles in our lives.
