LCSD to present clarinet recital by Linus Fung in May

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present a recital by talented local clarinettist Linus Fung in May to launch this year's "Our Music Talents" Series.
 
     Fung will collaborate with pianist Alexander Wong as well as string quartet members Patrick Yim, Sally Law, Chan Wai-bun and Wong Ka-lap to perform Poulenc's "Sonata for Clarinet and Piano", Denisov's "Sonata for Clarinet Solo", Penderecki's "3 Miniatures for Clarinet and Piano", Takashi Yoshimatsu's "4 Pieces in Bird Shape, Op. 18", Brahms' "Clarinet Quintet in B minor, Op. 115" and the world premiere of Galison Lau's "A Flash of Thought".
 
     Born and raised in Hong Kong, Linus Fung studied music at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the UK's Royal Northern College of Music. He performs regularly as principal clarinet with the Ponte Orchestra of Hong Kong and has played with the Hong Kong Composers' Guild, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Opera Hong Kong. Fung has also performed in Shanghai, Seoul and Macao. In 2018, Fung founded the clarinet ensemble Reed A Bit, and he curates its programmes for community and family concerts. He is currently the internship clarinettist of the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble, and the clarinettist and curator of classical chamber group the TimeCrafters.

Latest opening arrangements for AMO venues

     The Antiquities and Monuments Office (AMO) announced today (April 1) that Tai Fu Tai in San Tin, Yuen Long; the Fortified Structure in Ha Pak Nai, Yuen Long; the Old House of Wong Uk Village in Sha Tin; the Wun Yiu Exhibition at Sheung Wun Yiu Village in Tai Po; the Fong Yuen Study Hall on Ma Wan; No. 10 San Wai in Wong Chuk Hang (only opens on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays); and the Information Centres of Tung Chung Fort on Lantau Island and Tung Lung Fort on Tung Lung Chau in Sai Kung will be reopened tomorrow (April 2). The operation of all interactive exhibits and public events except online talks at these venues will remain suspended.
      
     The viewing platform of Tung Lung Fort on Tung Lung Chau in Sai Kung is closed until further notice due to maintenance works in progress.
      
     Users of the venues are required to scan the "LeaveHomeSafe" QR code or register their names, contact number and the time of the visit before entering for necessary contact tracing if a confirmed case is found. Members of the public who opt to register their personal information at the site are reminded to arrive earlier to avoid delaying their visits as a longer time is required for such registration.
      
     The AMO reminds visitors that group gatherings of more than the number of people as stipulated by the law will not be allowed. It will also adopt special measures for the venues, including suspending all interactive exhibits; limiting the number of visitors at each venue; requesting all visitors to undergo temperature checks, use hand sanitiser and put on their own masks before entering the venues; and requiring children aged under 12 to be accompanied by an adult for admission. Cleaning and disinfection measures will be stepped up at the above venues to minimise the risk of infection.

Government proposes to improve Sam Mun Tsai Village Pier

     The Government intends to carry out improvement works at Sam Mun Tsai Village Pier within an area of approximately 1.66 hectares of foreshore and seabed to the west of Sam Mun Tsai. The extent of the area of foreshore and seabed affected is described in a notice gazetted today (April 1).

     The proposed works will enhance the safety of pier users while boarding and alighting. During the construction stage, a temporary pier will be provided at the site for public use. The proposed works are scheduled to commence in mid-2022 for completion in mid-2024.              

     The notice and its related plan are posted near the site. The plan is also available for inspection at:

* Survey and Mapping Office of the Lands Department (23/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong) (where copies can be purchased on order);

* Tai Po Home Affairs Enquiry Centre of the Tai Po District Office (G/F, Tai Po Government Offices Building, 1 Ting Kok Road, Tai Po, New Territories); and

* Lands Department's website (www.landsd.gov.hk) under Government Notices.

     Any person who considers that he or she has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and seabed involved may submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong, within two months from the above-mentioned date, i.e. on or before June 1. The notice of such an objection shall describe the interest, right or easement of the objector and the manner in which he or she will be allegedly affected.

Police launch Anti-Deception Coordination Centre website

     The Anti-Deception Coordination Centre (ADCC) of Police’s Commercial Crime Bureau today (April 1) officially launched a website “ADCC One-stop Platform” (www.adcc.gov.hk) to enhance publicity of anti-scam messages in a bid to fight against and prevent deception.

     The website provides a variety of useful information:

  • scam alerts on latest deception trend;
  • anti-scam promotional videos produced by the Force;
  • anti-deception events calendar with anti-scam activities organised by the Force, other government departments and non-profit-making organisations;
  • statistics of various kinds of scams; and
  • the work of ADCC.

     Members of the public can also make use of the "e-Report Centre" link provided by the website to report deception cases to the police.
