Missing woman in Wong Tai Sin located

     A woman who went missing in Wong Tai Sin has been located.

     Yan Hau-man, aged 51, went missing after she left her residence on Choi Hung Road on April 5 afternoon. Her family made a report to Police on the next day.

     The woman was located on Yin Hing Street in the small hours of April 11. She sustained no injuries and no suspicious circumstances were detected.

     




Lands Department’s digital map products made free to public

     The Lands Department (LandsD) announced today (April 13) that the following digital map products are now released for free browsing and downloading:

(a) Digital Topographic Map;
(b) Digital Land Boundary Map;
(c) Geo-Reference Database;
(d) Digital Orthophoto;
(e) Digital Aerial Photo (300 dpi resolution);
(f) GeoCommunity Database; and
(g) 3D Spatial Data.

     LandsD's digital map products have been widely used by government departments, businesses and educational entities for uses including land boundary surveys, town planning, engineering design, environmental studies, transportation management, publications, online maps, academic research and various types of data analysis. In 2020-21, LandsD provided over 36 000 digital maps and aerial photos to over 4 300 corporate clients and members of the public.

     Opening up the digital map products enables the public, academia and businesses to make greater use of spatial data in research and application development. The availability of free digital map data will facilitate the development of a digital economy, realising the visions of the Smart City Blueprint for Hong Kong 2.0 and bringing benefits to society as a whole.

     The open digital map products in the Geographic Information System and machine-readable formats (except image products) are now available for browsing and downloading at Hong Kong Map Service 2.0 (www.hkmapservice.gov.hk). Users can also access to the information at the Hong Kong GeoData Store (geodata.gov.hk) and the Public Sector Information Portal (data.gov.hk).




National Security Education Day 2021 to be held on April 15

The following is issued on behalf of the Committee for Safeguarding National Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region:
 
     On July 1, 2015, the 15th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress passed the National Security Law of the People's Republic of China, and designated April 15 each year as National Security Education Day.
 
     The Law of the People's Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (the Hong Kong National Security Law) was promulgated and implemented on June 30, 2020. Article 3 of the Hong Kong National Security Law stipulates that it is the duty of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region under the Constitution to safeguard national security and the Region shall perform the duty accordingly, while Article 10 stipulates that the Region shall promote national security education to raise the awareness of Hong Kong residents of national security and of the obligation to abide by the law.
 
     April 15 this year will be the first National Security Education Day after implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law. It also marks the launch of the first National Security Education Day events organised by the Committee for Safeguarding National Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The theme of National Security Education Day 2021 is "Uphold National Security × Safeguard Our Home – Improve Electoral System, Ensure Patriots Administering Hong Kong". The objectives include raising Hong Kong residents' awareness on national security; creating a positive atmosphere of national security; enhancing the capacity to fend off national security risks; deepening understanding of the National Constitution, the Basic Law and national security; and fostering national identity. The various attractive activities this year include the Opening Ceremony cum Seminar, Community and School Mosaic Wall activities, Disciplined Services Academies Open Day and the "National Security Exhibition". Red flag hoisted at Lido Beach and Casam Beach

     Here is an item of interest to swimmers.

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (April 13) that the Environmental Protection Department has classified the water quality at Lido Beach in Tsuen Wan District as Grade 4, which means the beach is not suitable for swimming. The red flag has been hoisted at Lido Beach and Casam Beach. Beach-goers are advised not to swim at these beaches until further notice.




Yi Pei Square Playground to reopen after refurbishment

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (April 13) that refurbishment works for Yi Pei Square Playground in Tsuen Wan District have been completed. The facilities will reopen at noon on April 15 (Thursday) for public use.

     "Communal living room" is the design theme of the renovated Yi Pei Square Playground. With the additions and improvement on inclusive play equipment for children, an elderly fitness corner, distinctive pergolas and benches as well as landscape designs, the playground will become an extension of "living rooms" of the adjacent residences, allowing neighbours to gather and to strengthen the community connection. The refurbishment works were carried out by the LCSD, in collaboration with the Architectural Services Department, the Policy Innovation and Co-ordination Office and Design Trust, and are funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.

     The LCSD will also carry out refurbishment works at Sitting-out Area under Flyover in Hill Road of the Central and Western District, Portland Street Rest Garden and Hamilton Street Rest Garden in Yau Tsim Mong District progressively, aiming to bring innovative designs and arts elements to small outdoor leisure venues with high visitor flows, and to improve these older public spaces.
