Hongkong Post holiday arrangements for Labour Day and Buddha’s Birthday

     Hongkong Post announced today (April 23) that no mail delivery and no mail collection will be provided on Labour Day, May 1, and the Birthday of the Buddha on May 19. All post offices will be closed. In accordance with the usual practice, mail posted on the public holidays will be processed on the next working day.

Appeal for information on missing girl in Tsuen Wan (with photo)

     Police today (April 23) appealed to the public for information on a girl who went missing in Tsuen Wan.

     Garcia Shermae, a Filipino aged 15, went missing after she left her residence on Sha Tsui Road on April 19 morning. Her family made a report to Police on April 21.

     She is about 1.7 metres tall, 72 kilograms in weight and of medium build. She has a round face with yellow complexion and long black hair. She was last seen wearing a school uniform.
          
     Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the missing girl or may have seen her is urged to contact the Regional Missing Person Unit of New Territories South on 3661 1176 or 9320 5612 or email to rmpu-nts-2@police.gov.hk, or contact any police station.

Hong Kong ICT Awards 2021 opens for enrolment

     The Hong Kong ICT Awards (HKICTA) 2021 is open for enrolment today (April 23). Entries of locally developed information and communications technology (ICT) products and solutions are invited to compete for the Grand Awards in the eight award categories, and the top accolade of the competition – the Award of the Year. The deadline for enrolment is July 16, 2021.

     Steered by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO), the HKICTA 2021 is organised by eight local industry associations and professional bodies. The award categories and respective Leading Organisers are listed below:

     Since its debut in 2006, the HKICTA has endeavoured to recognise and promote outstanding ICT inventions and applications, thereby encouraging the pursuit of innovation and excellence among Hong Kong's ICT professionals and enterprises to meet business and social needs, bring benefits to the community through adoption of innovation and technology, and foster Hong Kong's smart city development together.

Vacancy in Yuen Long District Council

     The Government declared by notice in the Gazette today (April 23) the existence of a vacant elected seat in the Yuen Long District Council Fairview Park Constituency.

     Following the resignation of elected member Mr To Ka Lun, the office will become vacant on May 1, 2021, pursuant to section 26(b) of the District Councils Ordinance (Cap. 547).




Lands Department releases video clip on compensation and rehousing arrangements for land resumption and development clearance

     The Lands Department (LandsD) released today (April 23) a video clip to brief those affected by land resumption and development clearance by the Government on various types of ex-gratia allowances and rehousing arrangements.

     Ex-gratia allowances and rehousing arrangements are non-statutory compensation offered to eligible persons affected by land resumption and clearance exercises for government development projects, and are intended to help minimise their hardship. Those affected include landowners, tenants, occupants of squatter structures, farmers and business undertakings, etc. Presented in a concise and straightforward manner, the video clip makes the eligibility criteria and details of various kinds of ex-gratia allowances and rehousing arrangements more accessible to the persons concerned.
