ExCo Non-official Members congratulate Cheung Yuen on winning silver medal at Paris Paralympics

The following is issued on behalf of the Executive Council Secretariat:
      
     Non-official Members of the Executive Council (ExCo Non-official Members) today (September 2) expressed their warmest congratulations to Hong Kong athlete Cheung Yuen for winning a silver medal in the Boccia Women's Individual BC4 event at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. They also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Cheung's coaches and her team.
      
     The Convenor of ExCo Non-official Members, Mrs Regina Ip, said, "With her exceptional skills, Cheung Yuen overcame hurdle after hurdle throughout the series of matches. She demonstrated outstanding performance in the competitions and brought honour to Hong Kong by capturing a silver medal, which deserves our great applause."
      
     ExCo Non-official Members hope that the Hong Kong, China Delegation will continue to excel in various events.




SCST congratulates Cheung Yuen on winning silver medal at Paris Paralympics

     The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Kevin Yeung today (September 2) congratulated Hong Kong boccia athlete Cheung Yuen on winning a silver in Women's Boccia Individual BC4 event at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
      
     Mr Yeung said, "Cheung Yuen's excellent achievement in competition has brought honour to Hong Kong and deserved our applause. Her courage to take up challenges and pursuit of breakthroughs commanded our greatest respect."
          
     The Hong Kong, China Delegation has so far won four medals, namely one gold, two silver and one bronze, at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. The details are as follows:

CE congratulates Cheung Yuen on winning medal at Paris Paralympics

     â€‹Hong Kong boccia athlete Cheung Yuen today (September 2, Paris time) won the silver medal in the Women's Individual BC4 event at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. The Chief Executive, Mr John Lee, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Cheung Yuen and her coaches.
      
     "Cheung Yuen, who participated in the Paralympic Games for the first time, remained resilient against the world's best athletes throughout the competitions and achieved an outstanding performance, capturing the silver medal finally. All Hong Kong people and I are proud of her," Mr Lee said.
      
     The Hong Kong, China Delegation has so far won one gold medal, two silver medals and one bronze medal at this year's Paralympic Games.

They also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Loung's coaches and his team.
      
     The Convenor of ExCo Non-official Members, Mrs Regina Ip, said, "With his great strategy and outstanding skills, John Loung outperformed his rivals in the match and scored the first gold medal for Hong Kong in this year's Paralympic Games. We are proud of his remarkable achievement."

SCST congratulates John Loung on winning first gold medal for Hong Kong, China at Paris Paralympics

This is the first gold medal won by the Hong Kong, China Delegation at the Paralympic Games this year.
      
     Mr Yeung said, "With perseverance and a strong spirit, John Loung has won the gold medal and demonstrated his sportsmanship. We are all deeply encouraged by his remarkable achievement."
