Update on clusters of Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae cases in Haven of Hope Hospital

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority.

     Regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of patients confirmed as having Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales (CPE) in a medicine ward, the spokesperson for Haven of Hope Hospital (HHH) gave the following update today (September 5):
 
     The hospital has conducted a screening and confirmed three more patients, males aged between 75 and 88, as carriers of CPE. One patient is being treated in isolation at HHH and is in stable condition. The other two patients have been discharged on August 27 and September 5, respectively.
      
     The ward concerned will continue to adopt the following enhanced infection control measures:
      
     1. Enhanced patient and environmental screening procedures;
     2. Continuing to apply stringent contact precautions and enhanced hand hygiene for staff and patients; and
     3. Enhanced cleaning and disinfection for the environment and facilities of the ward.
      
     The hospital will continue to closely monitor the situation in the ward concerned. The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.




Temporary closure of Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal

     The Marine Department announces that due to tropical cyclone warning signal No.8 issued, the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan has been closed temporarily.




Suspension of extended service hours at four designated Registration of Person Offices and Kwun Tong (Temporary) Office owing to Tropical Cyclone

Please broadcast the following as soon as possible and repeat it at suitable intervals:

     The Immigration Department announces that when Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above is in force, services at the four designated Registration of Persons (ROP) Offices, namely the Hong Kong Office, Kowloon Office, Tseung Kwan O Office and Tuen Mun Office during extended services hours, and the Kwun Tong (Temporary) Office are temporarily suspended. Members of the public who had booked but were unable to apply for identity cards during the suspension period may approach the relevant ROP Offices concerned during the relevant service hours on any subsequent working day for applications without the need to make a new appointment.

     Marine Department reminded ship owners, masters, and person-in-charge of vessels that Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 is in force. Ship owners, masters and person-in-charge of vessels shall take immediate precautionary measures and properly secure your vessels at safe location.

     In the event of an accident, report shall be made immediately to Vessel Traffic Centre (VTC) at telephone 2233 7801.
