Fatal traffic accident in Chai Wan

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Chai Wan in the small hours today (December 30) in which a 55-year-old man died.

     At about 5.12am, a taxi driven by the 55-year-old man was travelling along Island Eastern Corridor westbound. When approaching Oi Tung Estate, the taxi reportedly collided with a private car which stopped at roadside.

     The taxi driver was sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 6.03am. The 36-year-old female private car driver sustained minor injuries and was sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in conscious state.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island is underway.

     Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 3660 6800.
