Police appeal to protestors to leave immediately

     At around 8pm today (July 21) following public announcements, Police embarked on a clearance operation. During which a group of protestors gathered outside the building of the Central Police Station and hurled bricks at it. When Police’s cordon line moved eastward to Sheung Wan area, some protestors hurled bricks, smoke grenades and miscellaneous objects at Police officers. After repeated but futile warnings, Police used tear gas at around 10pm.

     Police appeal to the protestors at scene to stop charging Police cordon lines and leave immediately. Other members of the public and residents nearby should mind their own safety, avoid travelling to that district and stay safe.

 




Police to conduct clearance operation

     This afternoon (July 21), after the participants of a public procession reached the finishing point in Wan Chai, some proceeded to the Western District, blocking roads, vandalising cars and the outer walls of buildings. In face of the escalating violence, Police will conduct clearance operation starting from the Western District towards the east.

     Police appeal to the members of the public to avoid travelling to the relevant areas. Residents and workers of these areas should mind their personal safety and stay tuned to the latest announcements from Police. The participants of the public procession should take public transport and leave as soon as possible.




Western Division Police Station Report Room service suspended

Owing to serious road blockage around Des Voeux Road West in Western Division, the Report Room service in Western Division Police Station has been suspended until further notice. For emergencies, please call 999.




Police appeal to public procession participants to leave as soon as possible

Please broadcast the following message as soon as possible and repeat it at suitable intervals:

     A public procession kicked off in Victoria Park, Causeway Bay this afternoon (July 21) and the participants reached the finishing point in Wan Chai at around 4.30pm. Many participants continued to proceed to Admiralty and blocked the carriageways of Harcourt Road at around 5pm. It causes danger to the participants themselves and all road users, and leads to serious traffic congestion.

     Police appeal to all participants to mind their own safety and stay on pavements. Participants should avoid staying in nearby areas and take public transport to leave as soon as possible.

     For participants who are still on their way to the finishing point of the public procession, please leave via Queen’s Road East or Wan Chai Road towards Happy Valley after arrival.

     The traffic along Admiralty and Central has been paralysed while the traffic in Sheung Wan is very congested. Police appeal to members of the public and drivers to avoid travelling to the vicinity.
     
 




Police advise dispersal routes from Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (2)

Police advise the public to consider the following dispersal routes from Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC):

1) take public transport at the bus terminus on Convention Avenue from the east of HKCEC;

2) take ferry or other public transport at Wan Chai Ferry Pier*;

3) walk along Expo Drive Central to Convention Avenue and Fleming Road towards the direction of Causeway Bay.

* The ferry service between Wan Chai and Tsim Sha Tsui has been strengthened since 2pm. Members of the public can choose to leave Wan Chai by ferry service.
