Kowloon East Cluster announcement on service arrangement of Wo Lu Ning Cataract Centre

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson for Kowloon East Cluster made the following announcement today (August 28) regarding the service arrangement for cataract surgery:

     Affected by a water pipe burst occurring at around 10pm last evening (August 27), the service of the Wo Lu Ning Cataract Centre at Tseung Kwan O Hospital was suspended today. To safeguard patient safety, the Cataract Centre is conducting thorough environmental cleansing and air sampling. It is expected that the surgical service will resume on September 3.

     The hospital would contact 48 affected patients for rescheduling their non-emergency operations to be performed within three months according to their clinical conditions. If necessary, patients can call the enquiry hotline of the Wu Ho Loo Ning Cataract Centre at 2208 0248 during office hours.

     The incident has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office. To prevent recurrence of similar incident, the hospital will examine thoroughly the piping system.




No.3 alarm fire in Yuen Long

     A fire broke out at a recycling site at Shan Ha Tsuen in Yuen Long at 6.52pm today (August 28). The fire was upgraded to No.3 alarm at 7.36pm.
 
     Firemen are now using two jets and mobilising two breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze.
 
     No casualties have been reported so far.
 




Interactive lighting installation “Magic Behind the Moon” to light up Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza (with photos)

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will exhibit an interactive lighting installation entitled "Magic Behind the Moon" at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre (HKCC) Piazza from August 30 (Friday) until September 22 to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.

     The installation deploys new media arts to present traditional elements of the festival such as the full moon and rabbits. There will be projections onto the HKCC's facade, pool and viewing deck creating different effects including the moon's movement and the full moon. Special lighting will also be added to the pool to present a refreshing visual experience for visitors. Members of the public may also interact with four giant inflatable rabbits with the use of augmented reality effects. In addition, an animation of a birthday blessing will be projected onto the facade in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the HKCC.
 
     The LCSD will also hold three lantern carnivals showcasing a variety of performances and lantern displays. The details are as follows:

  September 13 (Friday), 8pm to 11pm
   Victoria Park

2. New Territories East Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival
   September 14 (Saturday), 7.30pm to 10pm

3. New Territories West Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival
   September 15 (Sunday), 7.30pm to 10pm
   Tsuen Wan Park

     People are urged not to litter or burn wax while celebrating the festival.

CFS urges public not to consume three kinds of brownies imported from Japan with possible presence of mould

     The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department today (August 28) urged the public not to consume three kinds of prepackaged brownies imported from Japan, irrespective of batches, as there might be mould in the products.

     A spokesman for the CFS said, "The CFS, through its routine Food Incident Surveillance System, noted that Muji (Japan) is recalling the abovementioned products due to the possible presence of mould in the products."

     The spokesman said that upon learning of the incident, the CFS immediately followed up with Muji (Hong Kong) Company Limited. According to information provided by the company, it had imported the affected products which were put on sale at its outlets. The company had already removed from shelves and stopped sale of the affected products, and initiated a recall. Members of the public may call the company's hotline at 2694 9309 during office hours for enquiries about the recall.

     The CFS will continue to follow up on the incident and take appropriate action. An investigation is ongoing.




Missing man in North Point located

     A man who went missing in North Point has been located.

     Wong Kwong-shing, aged 44, went missing after he left a hostel on King’s Road yesterday afternoon (August 27). His family made a report to Police on the same day.

     The man was located on Hennessy Road in Wan Chai this afternoon (August 28). He sustained no injuries and no suspicious circumstances were detected.
