Postal services to New South Wales in Australia subject to delay

     Hongkong Post announced today (November 12) that, as advised by the postal administration of Australia, due to the impact of bushfires, all mail delivery services (including Speedpost Service) to New South Wales (postcodes 2424, 2427, 2428, 2429, 2430, 2443 and 2446) are subject to delay.

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (November 12) that due to big waves, red flag has been hoisted at Clear Water Bay Second Beach in Sai Kung District. Beach-goers are advised not to swim at the beach.




DH clinic to open at a later time today

     The Department of Health today (November 12) announced that owing to disruptions in transportation services, Tung Chung Maternal and Child Health Centre will be opened later than scheduled today. The department will try its best to resume service as soon as possible.
 
     If those with appointments may not be able to attend their scheduled consultation due to possible traffic disruptions at various districts, they can call the clinics to reschedule the appointments later. There is no need to worry and rush for the consultation appointments.

Protestors block roads in various districts and commuters should reserve time

     Since 7am this morning (November 12), some radical protestors have been gathering at a footbridge leading to the Student Residence of City University of Hong Kong, Kowloon Tong, throwing bricks and other hard objects from the heights to the ground. Some radical protestors set barricades and obstructed the junction of Cornwall Street and Tat Chee Avenue with bricks, wooden board and iron railing etc.

     Police is now conducting dispersal operation. Tear gas has been deployed. Due to the current situation, drivers and members of the public are advised to stay tuned to the latest traffic arrangement.

 




Labour Department urges employers to show understanding and flexibility in work arrangements of employees due to traffic conditions

     The Labour Department (LD) today (November 12) urged employers to make flexible work arrangements for staff having regard to traffic and road conditions occurring during the day. This will help maintain good labour-management relations and ensure the safety of employees and the smooth operations of establishments.

     "For staff who cannot report to work on time on account of conditions in road traffic or public transport services, employers should give due consideration to the circumstances of individual employees and handle each case flexibly," an LD spokesman said.
