Opening hours of LAD’s offices under special work arrangements

     To align with the special work arrangements announced by the Government, the Legal Aid Department (LAD) today (February 2) announced that the LAD offices will be open from 9.30am to 4pm to provide basic necessary and limited civil and criminal legal aid application and litigation services between February 3 and 7.
 
     The LAD offices are as follows:
 
– Information and Application Services Unit (located at 25/F, Queensway Government Offices (QGO));
– Crime Section (located at 25/F, QGO);
– Civil Litigation Section 1 (located at 26/F, QGO);
– Civil Litigation Section 2 (located at 30/F, Revenue Tower, Wan Chai); and
– Costing Unit and Enforcement Unit (both located on 27/F, QGO).

     The LAD will review the above work arrangements on February 8.




ISD to maintain limited publication and photo sales services

     In light of the latest developments of novel coronavirus infection and the extension of special work arrangements for government departments, the Information Services Department (ISD) today (February 2) announced that it will continue to provide basic and limited services for the sale of government publications and photos.
 
     The sales counter services of the department's Publications Sales Unit and Photo Library at North Point Government Offices will remain suspended until further notice.
 
     The public can continue to buy government publications through the Online Government Bookstore (www.bookstore.gov.hk) and by:
 

  • calling the Publications Sales Unit on 2537 1910;
  • downloading an order form from the ISD website (www.isd.gov.hk) and submitting the form online or by fax to 2523 7195; or
  • emailing puborder@isd.gov.hk.

 
     Purchases of government photos can be made at the online Government Photo Store (www.photostore.gov.hk).




Missing woman in Cheung Sha Wan located

     A woman who went missing in Cheung Sha Wan has been located.

     Cheng Pui-wan, aged 57, went missing after she was last seen in a restaurant on Broadway Street on January 30 afternoon. Her family made a report to Police on the same day.

     The woman returned to her residence yesterday (1 February) morning. She sustained no injuries and no suspicious circumstances were detected.

     To align with the special work arrangements announced by the Government on January 31 to reduce the risk of the spread of the novel coronavirus in the community, the Department of Justice announced today (February 2) that the department will continue to maintain basic and essential services to the public and legal profession as follows:

     Members of the public and the legal profession can continue to serve or submit court documents and other correspondence in matters handled by the two Divisions to the respective counters and make payment to the Shroff Office. While the documents will be processed as quickly as possible, the response time may be longer than usual.




Appeal for information on abandoned baby girl (with photo)

     Police are anxious to locate the next-of-kin of a baby girl who was found abandoned in Wong Tai Sin today (February 2).

     At about 5.07am, Police received a report that a baby girl was abandoned outside 120 Shatin Pass Road.

     The newborn baby girl with umbilical cord was wrapped in a white cloth inside a nylon plastic bag. She has no apparent injuries and was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for observation.

     Investigation by the officers of Wong Tai Sin District is underway.

     Police urge her relatives or anyone who has information to offer, to contact any police stations or the officers of Wong Tai Sin District on 3661 1632 or 3661 6039.
