Fatal traffic accident in Tsuen Wan

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tsuen Wan this afternoon (February 12) in which a 39-year-old man died.

     At about 1.19pm, a motorcycle driven by the 39-year-old man was travelling along Tuen Mun Road towards Kowloon. When approaching Yau Kom Tau Village, it reportedly lost control and rammed into noise barriers.

     Sustaining serious multiple injuries, the 39-year-old driver was rushed to Yan Chai Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 1.57pm.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is underway.

     Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 3661 1300 or 3661 1346.

Please broadcast the following as soon as possible and repeat it at suitable intervals: 

     The Marine Department today (February 12) reminded masters, coxswains and persons-in-charge of vessels navigating in Hong Kong waters to proceed at a safe speed and exercise extreme caution because restricted visibility of less than 2 nautical miles has been reported. 

     Appropriate sound signals shall be made when underway or at anchor. All vessels must comply with the International Regulations for Preventing Collision at Sea. 

     Also, when radar is used without the benefit of adequate plotting facilities, the information obtained from the equipment is rather limited and should be construed accordingly. 

     Visibility reports are broadcast by the Vessel Traffic Centre (VTC) on VHF channels 02, 12, 14 , 63 and 67. 

     In the event of an accident, a report shall be made immediately to the VTC at Tel: 2233 7801. 
 
 




Missing woman in Tsuen Wan located

     A woman who went missing in Tsuen Wan has been located.

     Chan On-wing, aged 19, went missing after she left her residence in Lei Muk Shue Estate last night (February 11). Her family made a report to Police today (February 12).

     The woman returned to her residence this afternoon.




Public hospital daily update on Wuhan-related cases

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     As at noon today (February 12), public hospitals had reported to the Department of Health the admission of 59 patients (32 male and 27 female, aged 20 to 92) in the past 24 hours who met the reporting criteria of severe respiratory disease associated with a novel infectious agent. Specimens of the patients concerned have been sent for testing. Two patients were discharged today while 135 patients are still under isolation.
 
     The Hospital Authority will maintain close contact with the Centre for Health Protection to monitor the latest developments and to inform the public and healthcare workers on the latest information in a timely manner.
