The Prime Minister’s message reads, in part:

While holding all high-ranking state positions, President Tran Dại Quang invariably focused on strengthening relations of comprehensive strategic partnership linking the Russian Federation and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. I would like to emphasise his impressive personal contribution to advancing major joint economic and cultural projects.

We will cherish the fond memories of this outstanding statesman and this good friend of our country.”




Dmitry Medvedev receives birthday greetings from foreign heads of state, government and international organisations

During telephone conversations, the Prime Minister accepted best wishes from Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Saghintayev, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Muhammetkaliy Abulgaziyev and Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov. During their conversations, the heads of government also discussed bilateral matters and upcoming contacts within the framework of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, the Eurasian Economic Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States.




Dmitry Medvedev congratulates Hun Sen on his reappointment as Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia

The Russian Prime Minister’s message reads, in part:

“Russia and Cambodia have friendly and partner-like relations. Our bilateral trade is growing, and so is our economic, investment, research and technology cooperation. We are working together on large infrastructure and industrial projects. Dmitry Medvedev: Mr General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, distinguished Vietnamese guests, please accept my heartfelt greetings. Welcome to Moscow.

I am delighted that we are having this meeting. Our contacts are regular. You visit Russia and we visit Vietnam. We cherish the warm memories of your hospitable country.

You are on a visit with a full-scale agenda. This makes us very happy. Tomorrow when you are in Sochi, you will have a meeting with President Putin. On 7 September you are visiting the Kaluga Region, which is also a symbol of our cooperation.

Our relations are on the rise. Our mutual trade is growing; political contacts are expanding, including between the Communist Party of Vietnam and United Russia.

I would like to take this opportunity and pass my kind regards to the President of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

This is a great opportunity to exchange our views on various aspects of cooperation between Russia and Vietnam.

I would like to congratulate the Russian Federation on the great success of the recent World Cup. This was one of the most successful and exciting championships. Millions of spectators all over the world were greatly impressed with the championship. I also want to congratulate you on the success of the Russian national football team.  

I strongly believe that under your leadership, the Government of the Russian Federation can successfully fulfill the Strategy of Socio-Economic Development up to 2030.

Despite many challenges and difficulties over the past years, the Russian Federation succeeded in maintaining political and social stability, economic recovery together with providing social protection to the people. It has also been increasingly proactive on the international arena in addressing various global matters.

I am very glad to have the opportunity to meet with you, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the United Russia party. I would like to discuss opportunities concerning bilateral cooperation with Russia.

The Government approves the draft Agreement on the Prevention of Unregulated High Seas Fishing in the Central Part of the Arctic Ocean

The aim of the future Agreement is to create an international legal framework for regulating the high seas fishing industry in the central part of the Arctic Ocean.

The Government issued a directive approving the draft Agreement on the Prevention of Unregulated High Seas Fishing in the Central Part of the Arctic Ocean (hereinafter “Agreement”).

The aim of the future Agreement is to create an international legal framework to regulate the high seas fishing industry in the central Arctic Ocean.

The Agreement has the preliminary approval of Denmark, Canada, Norway, Russia, the United States, China, Iceland, Japan, the Republic of Korea and the European Union (hereinafter “Parties”).

The Agreement is aimed at preventing unregulated fishing on the open seas in the central Arctic Ocean according to the long-term strategy to protect healthy marine ecosystems and to ensure the preservation and sustainable use of fish resources.

The draft Agreement facilitates research cooperation between the Parties for the purpose of expanding knowledge of live marine resources in the central Arctic Ocean and their ecosystems.

The Agreement stipulates that each Party will allow vessels eligible for operating under its flag to engage in industrial fishing in the territory covered by the Agreement strictly in compliance with the measures aimed at sustainable management of fish reserves introduced by regional or subregional fishing organisations.

The Agreement will be in force from the effective date for the initial term of 16 years.

If signed, the Agreement will promote the development of international cooperation in Arctic fishing.
