Police Anti-violence Hotline officially launched

     Police today (September 10) announced that the Anti-violence Hotline (the Hotline) have been launched in order to assist in the prevention and detection of crime by receiving anti-violence intelligence through WhatsApp from members of the public.
      
     In response to the escalating violence in the society in the past three months, the Hotline serves as an effective channel for members of the public to provide violence-related intelligence to Police, including photos, recordings and videos, so as to assist Police in stopping riots and restoring the peace and stability of the society of Hong Kong.
      
     Members of the public can provide information to Police through the following ten hotline numbers:

     Police stressed that Police will strictly abide by the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance and relevant laws when collecting and handling data, and will retain the personal data of the providers according to the time required for the purpose of data collection. When it is not necessary to use personal data for related purposes, such data will be destroyed within a reasonable period unless otherwise reserved for compliance with legal requirements.
      
     Furthermore, the Hotline is not intended for general reporting and Police will not answer calls through the Hotline. For case reporting, please report to the nearest police station or dial 999.
