InnoCarnival 2021 showcases scientific research achievements and promotes culture of innovation and technology (with photos)

InnoCarnival 2021, organised by the Innovation and Technology Commission, is being held from today (October 23) to October 31. Under the theme "Innovate for a Bright Future", the carnival this year is held in a hybrid format as a physical and online event due to the epidemic, which involves a number of physical exhibits of innovation and technology (I&T) achievements at the Hong Kong Science Park as well as webinars and online workshops, showcasing an array of the latest local innovations and research achievements.

Officiating at the opening ceremony of InnoCarnival 2021, the Financial Secretary, Mr Paul Chan, said the stars were aligned for Hong Kong's I&T development right now. The Government has invested and committed more than $130 billion in the I&T development over the past few years, including not a small amount of resources on nurturing talents. The atmosphere for I&T in our community has been significantly enhanced when compared to the past.

The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation are campaign partners of the InnoCarnival 2021. The event is supported by 53 partners comprising seven universities, five research and development centres, 11 government departments and 30 organisations. During the carnival, 36 booths are set up at the Hong Kong Science Park, displaying a series of I&T work and interactive games (including a Kinect motion game), together with about 145 InnoTech workshops (including parent-child workshops) and 46 webinars. The aim is to show the public that I&T is closely linked to people's daily lives, and to inspire the younger generation to pursue knowledge and cultivate an interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) towards pursuing a career in the I&T field.

All InnoCarnival 2021 activities are free of charge. Preregistration for some activities is required. Please refer to the thematic webpage (innocarnival.hk) for details. Members of the public are welcome to join the activities.
