HA announces the passing away of four COVID-19 patients

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The Hospital Authority spokesperson today (August 9) announced the passing away of four patients confirmed with COVID-19 infection earlier this morning.
      
     The 90-year-old female patient (case no. 2269), admitted to Caritas Medical Centre on July 22 due to abdominal pain and pneumonia, succumbed at 12.11am today.
      
     The 88-year-old female patient (case no. 2429), admitted to North District Hospital on July 23 due to fever and cough, succumbed at 3.57am today.
      
     The 78-year-old female patient (case no. 2955), admitted to Tuen Mun Hospital on July 27 due to fever and cough, succumbed at 5.37am today.
      
     The 81-year-old male patient (case no. 3714), admitted to QMH on August 4 due to COVID-19 infection, succumbed at 7.52am today.
      
     All the four patients have chronic diseases. Their condition continued to deteriorate upon admission and eventually succumbed earlier today.
      
     The hospitals concerned were saddened by the passing away of the patients and would offer necessary assistance to their family members.
      
     Including the above four patients, 51 COVID-19 patients have passed away in public hospitals so far.
