The following is issued on behalf of the Community Care Fund Secretariat:

The Chairperson of the Community Care Fund (CCF) Task Force under the Commission on Poverty, Dr Law Chi-kwong, today (September 27) visited a branch of Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited to learn more about its situation on the first day of application as the Agent Bank for the One-off Allowance for New Arrivals from Low-income Families Programme.

Accompanied by the Secretary to the CCF Task Force, Ms Carmen Kong, Dr Law talked to staff of the bank to better understand how they accept and check the applications. He was pleased to note that the overall operations were generally smooth on the first day, and that applications could be dispersed in phases to help applicants. He thanked the Agent Bank's special arrangement  to open 17 branches today, a Sunday, in different districts to enable the submission of application forms. Applications can be submitted to any of the 168 branches of the Agent Bank in the territory starting from tomorrow (September 28).

The Programme is open for application from today to December 31. Applicants can submit online applications through the website of the Agent Bank or make paper-form applications. For details of the Programme, please visit the CCF website (www.communitycarefund.hk) or call the enquiry hotline of the Agent Bank on 3988 1810.
