Latest arrangements of Marine Department services

     To align with the announcement made by the Government that public services will resume under a phased approach from May 4, a spokesman for the Marine Department (MD) said today (April 29) that, with the exception of surveying services to be conducted outside Hong Kong, all services of the department will resume starting from May 4.
     
     For the seafarers' examination and certification services, MD will contact those candidates whose examination dates have been affected and notify them of the updated examination dates. Suitable adjustments will also be made to the examination arrangements in accordance with the infection control measures implemented.




Appointments to Cantonese Opera Advisory Committee

     â€‹The Government today (April 29) announced the appointments to the Cantonese Opera Advisory Committee (the Committee) for the period from May 1, 2020, to April 30, 2022.
      
     The Home Affairs Bureau thanked the eight outgoing members (Ms Jeanette Chan, Mrs Corona Cheuk Au Ching-mei, Ms Alice Lau Kok-ying, Ms Wendy Lee Kam-ming, Ms Angel Leung Sum-yee, Mr Wyborn Leung Wai-hong, Mr Liu Kwok-sum and Ms Wong Shui-kwan (Wong Chiu-kwan)) for their valuable contributions to the Committee and looks forward to maintaining close partnership with the Committee to promote the development of Cantonese opera, facilitating the transmission of this world intangible cultural heritage item.

Tenders invited for Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area Advance Works Phase 2 – Site Formation and Engineering Infrastructure

     The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) today (April 29) invited tenders for the contract for Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area Advance Works Phase 2 – Site Formation and Engineering Infrastructure (Contract No. YL/2019/02). 

     The works mainly include:

* site clearance and formation (including land decontamination works) for about 2.6 hectares of land, together with the provision of associated engineering infrastructure; 
* construction of local roads including a one-lane two-way carriageway of about 330 metres (m) long with passing bays connecting Tsing Yick Road to Ng Lau Road;
* construction of about 340 m long sewer; 
* construction of about 1 500 m long water mains; and
* implementation of environmental mitigation measures for the works mentioned above.

     The works are scheduled to commence in August this year and will take about 47 months to complete.

     The CEDD has commissioned AECOM Asia Company Limited to design and supervise the works. Interested contractors may obtain the forms of tender and further particulars from AECOM Asia Company Limited at 12/F, Grand Central Plaza, Tower 2, 138 Shatin Rural Committee Road, Sha Tin.

     The invitation to tender was gazetted today. The closing time for the tender is noon on June 26, 2020.

GLD latest service arrangement

     To align with the phased resumption of public services announced by the Government yesterday (April 28), the Government Logistics Department (GLD) announces today (April 29) that the GLD Collection Office on 10/F North Point Government Offices will resume normal operation from May 4.  It will be open from Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5pm.




Deadline approaching for 2021-22 flag days applications

     The Social Welfare Department (SWD) reminds charitable organisations wishing to hold flag days from April 2021 to March 2022 that the deadline for related applications is 6pm on May 14 this year.

     The application form for flag days together with the explanatory notes can be downloaded from the SWD's website at www.swd.gov.hk. The completed application form together with the required documents should reach the Lotteries Fund Projects Section of the SWD at Rooms 3601-02, 36/F, Sunlight Tower, 248 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai, Hong Kong by 6pm on May 14 this year. Late applications will not be considered.
