Fatal traffic accident in Aberdeen

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Aberdeen this morning (July 9) in which a 90-year-old woman died.

     At 7.37am today, a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 54-year-old man was travelling towards Aberdeen Main Road along Aberdeen Reservoir Road. When approaching near 180 Aberdeen Main Road, it reportedly knocked down the 90-year-old woman who was crossing the road. After the impact, the MGV left the scene.

     Sustaining serious leg injuries, the 90-year-old woman was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 8.09am.

     The MGV was located on Chun Kwong Street, Tseung Kwan O, and the 54-year-old driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island is underway.

Appointments to Leveraged Foreign Exchange Trading Arbitration Panel

     The Financial Secretary has made appointments to the Leveraged Foreign Exchange Trading Arbitration Panel pursuant to the Securities and Futures (Leveraged Foreign Exchange Trading) (Arbitration) Rules (Cap. 571F). All appointments are for a term of three years from July 17, 2020, to July 16, 2023.

     The Panel was established under the Securities and Futures Ordinance (Cap. 571) to arbitrate disputes between corporations licensed by the Securities and Futures Commission for carrying out leveraged foreign exchange trading and their clients.
