Resumption of services of Transport Department

     The Transport Department (TD) today (August 19) announced that services provided in the TD's Licensing Offices at Admiralty, Cheung Sha Wan, Kwun Tong and Sha Tin as well as the Public Vehicles Unit and the Vehicle Examination Centres will resume within two hours upon the Hong Kong Observatory's announcement of the lowering of the No.8 gale or storm signal.

     Members of the public with their vehicle examination scheduled for or after 2pm are required to present their vehicles for examination according to the scheduled appointments. Those who have their vehicle examination appointments scheduled before 2pm should reschedule the appointments after the services of the Vehicle Examination Centres resume.

     Applicants who have made an appointment for renewal of a full driving licence/vehicle licence, transfer of vehicle ownership, application for an international driving permit, or retention, transfer or assignment of vehicle registration mark in any timeslot before the lowering of the No.8 gale or storm signal or within two hours after the lowering of the signal may proceed to the Licensing Offices to submit their applications during opening hours (from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Friday) on or before August 26 without the need to make another appointment.

     The Immigration Department announced today (August 19) that, as Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 has been cancelled, emergency services provided under the special work arrangements for government departments at Immigration Headquarters will resume within two hours while emergency services provided at Branch Offices, Registration of Persons Offices, Deaths Registries and Marriage Registries will resume at 2pm.




Appeal for information on missing man in Kwai Chung (with photo)

     Police today (August 19) appealed to the public for information on a man who went missing in Kwai Chung.

     Thian I-Sun, aged 80, went missing after he left his residence in Kwai Shing West Estate yesterday (August 18). His family made a report to Police on the same day.
         
     He is about 1.63 metres tall, 50 kilograms in weight and of thin build. He has a long face with yellow complexion and shoulder-length white hair. He was last seen wearing a grey short-sleeved T-shirt with stripes, blue jeans, black shoes, a pink hat and carrying a dark blue shoulder bag.

     Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the missing man or may have seen him is urged to contact the Regional Missing Person Unit of New Territories South on 3661 1173 or 9473 9506 or email to rmpu-nts-2@police.gov.hk, or contact any police station.

Please broadcast the following as soon as possible and repeat it at suitable intervals:
 
     As the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 has been cancelled, the Judiciary has announced that all hearings of the courts/tribunals which had been affected by the issuing of the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 will be resumed on the next working day (August 20).
 
     Those who were due to attend court hearings today but were affected by the issuing of Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8, including the jurors, should do so at 9.30am on the next working day (August 20).
 
     Those who have been summoned for jury empanelment in the High Court today are not required to attend court until further notice in writing. 
 
     As for those who have been summoned for jury empanelment in the Coroner's Court today, they are required to appear in court at 9.30am on the next working day (August 20).
 
     Court/tribunal registries and offices will open at 2pm this afternoon (August 19).
