Old art form, new experience

     It is curtain up for the Xiqu Centre today (January 20). The West Kowloon Cultural District's first landmark performing arts venue will offer audiences a unique opera-going experience. The arts hub is reviving an old tradition by bringing together Cantonese opera and tea-drinking at its Tea House Theatre.

     News.gov.hk spoke to the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority's Executive Director of Performing Arts and to a Cantonese opera actor to learn more about the centre's design and its facilities.

No. 3 alarm fire in Tuen Mun (2)

      A No. 3 alarm fire broke out at Tuen Mun River Trade Terminal this morning (January 20). Firemen are now using six jets and two turntable ladder monitors, and mobilising four breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze.

      No casualties have been reported so far.




Red flag hoisted at Clear Water Bay Second Beach

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (January 20) that due to big waves, red flag has been hoisted at Clear Water Bay Second Beach in Sai Kung District. Beach-goers are advised not to swim at the beach.

     The fire danger situation today (January 20) is yellow and the risk of fire is high. People are urged to prevent fires breaking out and hikers should also be vigilant.
 




No. 3 alarm fire in Tuen Mun

     A fire broke out at Tuen Mun River Trade Terminal at 4.35am today (January 20), and was upgraded to No. 3 alarm at 4.52am.  A one-storey structure was ablaze at the scene, the affected area measures around 200 metres by 80 metres.

     Firemen are now using two jets and mobilising two breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze.

     No casualties have been reported so far.
