Appeal for information on missing man (with photo)

     Police today (February 25) appealed to the public for information on a missing man.

     Yip Shing, aged 71, entered Hong Kong through Lo Wu Control Point in the afternoon of February 20 and missing since then. His family made a report to the Police on February 22.

     He is about 1.68 metres tall, 70 kilograms in weight and of medium build. He has a round face with yellow complexion and is bald. He was last seen wearing a dark-coloured long-sleeved shirt, dark-coloured trousers, black sports shoes, and carrying a black shoulder bag.

Tender awarded for site on Lantau Island

     The Lands Department announced today (February 25) that the tender for a site, Lot No. 738 in Demarcation District No. 332 at South Lantau Road, Cheung Sha, Lantau Island, New Territories, has been awarded to the highest tenderer, Huge Choice Group Limited (parent company: Dynamic Triumph Limited), on a 50-year land grant at a premium of $1,130 million.

     The tenderers, other than the successful tenderer, in alphabetical order, with the name of the parent company where provided by the tenderer in brackets, were:

(1) Always Topluck International Limited (Goodview Peak Limited);
(2) Dragon Star H.K. Investments Limited (K. Wah International Holdings Limited);
(3) Full Loyal Limited (Wang On Properties Limited);
(4) Happy Land Corporation Limited (Emperor International Holdings Limited);
(5) Henghao China Limited (Parkland Development Limited);
(6) Lambda Industrial (Holdings) Limited (Chuang's Consortium International Limited);
(7) Rich Sea Limited (Asia Standard International Group Limited); and
(8) Sky Castle Limited (Sino Land Company Limited).
     
     Lot No. 738 in Demarcation District No. 332 has a site area of about 20 600 square metres and is designated for private residential purposes. The minimum gross floor area is 4 944 sq m and the maximum gross floor area that may be attained is 8 240 sq m.
 




Import of poultry meat and products from Huaping County of Lijiang City in Yunnan Province suspended

     The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department announced today (February 25) that in view of a notification from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs about an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N6 sub-type avian influenza in Huaping County of Lijiang City in Yunnan Province, it has followed the existing approach for control of highly pathogenic avian influenza and taken recommendations from the World Organisation for Animal Health into account to suspend the import of poultry and poultry products, including poultry eggs, from an area within a radius of 3 kilometres from the said place for a period of 90 days, and from an area within a radius of 13km for 21 days, with immediate effect for the protection of public health in Hong Kong.
      
     A spokesman for the CFS said that according to information from the General Administration of Customs, the outbreak does not affect any registered Mainland poultry farms that export to Hong Kong. No registered poultry meat or poultry egg processing plants are currently situated within the import restriction zone concerned.
      
     The CFS will closely monitor the latest developments of the avian influenza case in the province and take appropriate follow-up action as necessary.
