Red flags hoisted at several beaches

Here is an item of interest to swimmers.

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (April 2) that due to big waves, red flags have been hoisted at  Stanley Main Beach, Turtle Cove Beach, Shek O Beach and Big Wave Bay Beach in Southern District, Hong Kong Island; Cheung Chau Tung Wan Beach and Tong Fuk Beach in Islands District; Silverstrand Beach, Clear Water Bay First Beach and Clear Water Bay Second Beach in Sai Kung District.  Beach-goers are advised not to swim at these beaches.




Key statistics on service demand of A&E Departments and occupancy rates in public hospitals

     During the winter surge, the Hospital Authority is closely monitoring the service demand of Accident and Emergency Departments and the occupancy rate in public hospitals. Key service statistics are being issued daily for public information. Details are in the appended table.




Yuen Long Swimming Pool temporarily closed

     Here is an item of interest to swimmers.

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (April 1) that Yuen Long Swimming Pool in Yuen Long District has been temporarily closed for cleaning and superchlorination following the discovery of a small amount of vomit in the pool.

     It will be reopened at 6.30am tomorrow.

     The department appeals to swimmers to be considerate and to keep the swimming pools clean. They are advised not to swim after a full meal and should use the toilet facilities if necessary before swimming.




Correctional officers stop fight among persons in custody

     Correctional officers at Pik Uk Correctional Institution stopped a fight among persons in custody today (April 1).

     At 10.48am today, two male persons in custody, aged 19 and 20 respectively, were found fighting inside the workshop. Officer at the scene immediately stopped the fight and called for reinforcement.

     During the incident, one of the persons in custody sustained injury to his eye. The person in custody was required to be referred to a public hospital for further examination and treatment after treatment provided by the institution Medical Officer. The other person in custody sustained injury to his hand. After treatment provided by the institution Medial Officer, he did not need to be sent to public hospital. 

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The two persons in custody were sentenced to imprisonment for the offence of trafficking in dangerous drug.




Appeal for information on missing man in Sheung Shui (with photo)

     Police today (April 1) appealed to the public for information on a man who went missing in Sheung Shui.

     Lau Pui-yin, aged 37, went missing after he was last seen in San Wan Road on March 29 night. His family made a report to Police yesterday (March 31).

     He is about 1.8 metres tall, 65 kilograms in weight and of thin build. He has a long face with yellow complexion and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeved shirt with black, grey and white stripes, a black trousers and black shoes.

     Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the missing man or may have seen him is urged to contact the Regional Missing Person Unit of Kowloon West on 3661 8035 or 9020 6542 or email to rmpu-kw-2@police.gov.hk, or contact any police station.
